Is it possible to rent your home to the government to house needy children?

My family is moving from Texas to Arkansas and we heard about a woman in Arizona who rents her house to the government, and they use it kind of like a Foster home for needy children, and i want to know if there's any way we can do that also.

So, basically, you want the government (meaning tax-payers) to make your mortgage payment for you and you'll ease your conscience by knowing that it is housing foster kids, right?

The program you may be thinking of is a subsidized housing program, in which the owner of the property more or less "leases" the property to city or county government for a guaranteed rent. The county then places a family into your home on a month to month basis.

The second program in which I am aware of is a shelter program ~ which sounds more like what this other woman is doing. The owner of the shelter can provide transitional shelter for a certain number of people (I'm thinking between 6-10) with related difficulties. For housing these people, the government pays a certain sum which helps pay the rent and connected expenses. One of the requirements is that the shelter must have an on site staff person. Shelters also have to go through a planning & zoning process for conditions of approval.

I hope not
