What should our priority be when it comes to government spending?

Assuming that we will always pay some sort of tax, and assuming that the government will spend the tax money, what do you believe it should be spent on first and foremost?

Energy independence, infrastructure, education, defense and health care

Government spending should be spent on developing policies to repair the broken out of control government that fritters away the money allocated for government spending. First and foremost money should be spent on a citizen's oversight committee. A kind of Governmental internal affairs. Democracy is dead.

RETURN on INVESTMENT. Yes, America spent tons of money to get electricity from sea to shining sea, but it paid for itself many times over, etc.

In keeping with the 10th Amendment:

National Defense

Veterans Benefits

Transportation

International Affairs

Postal Service

Advancement of Commerce

Bureau of Indian Affairs

Federal Pensions

Administrative Justice

General Government

If you're talking federal government, they should really only be spending money on national defense. Everything else should be left up to the states.

Oh, a thumbs down. I guess my answer was too Constitutional for somebody.

It should be spent to directly benefit the individual tax payer, not big business

It's "for the people by the people" NOT "for big business by the people"

No new taxes, no increase in existing taxes, no debt spending, limited government personnel(bare bones essential only).

The priority should be to spend as little as possible.

Home land security.. Without that, nothing else matters.

military

DEFENSE

killing our enemies

(what good is healthcare, roads, etc. if our enemies come in and take over... then we lose the option)
