What government programs would cut spending and decrease taxes?

Pell grants are awarded to non-citizens comming to the US for an education, even though they return to their country of origin. Pell grants are awarded by the federal government and do not have to be paid back. What other programs would cut the spending and taxes and not affect american citizens?

You want to cut the Pell Grant because non citizens are abusing it, this program is extremely important to those children who can not afford a secondary education, I would also remind you that those students go on to be productive taxpayers after graduating from college. Why not simply get non citizens OUT of our entitlements and programs? That would save billions alone. If you are not a citizen you should not be receiving taxpayer funded programs, period.

Cut the massive waste and pork projects. The war of course is extremely expensive and would save tons if it had not happened or were to end soon.

A smaller more effective government with security measures in place to prevent non citizens from receiving taxpayer funded programs and also to prevent abuse from citizens who abuse the system as well.

Close all our bases overseas. Close the Federal Department of Education. Should be left up to the locals & state. End the Surgeon General office. The Surgeon General does no operations or much of anything. End all corpoate welfare. Those arejust some starters.

None. Change to "The Fair Tax System" if you want those changes.

I agree with don't opress me bro.

the "war on terror"

At the risk of being called Anti American or a traitor; I would have to say Defense spending. As a nation we spend over $450 Billion dollars annually on national defense(GAO); which is more than the rest of the world spends combined.

National defense is important, but think about this, On 9/11 19 guys with 200 dollars worth of equipment committed the worst terrorist attack in history. All that defense spending did no good.

Point 2, we spend all that money on defense, and Bush still wants more money for the war in Iraq. If we reduced our defense budget by 20%, I think that money could be better spent on programs that can help the people so we wouldn't have to spend as much on axes.
