US citizens, how far do you wish the government to go to stop illegal immigration?

It seems to me that many people (esp. Minute Men) wish to close the US/Mexico border. If you feel this way, how would you implement such a decision? How far should the US government go to keep illegal immigrants out of the United States?

*I am not advocating a stance on this question, I'm just curious what people are thinking.

A wall would be fine with me....if things keep going and nothing gets done I predict there will be violence in the next couple of years,oh wait there has been violence, illegals raping and murdering our citizens, people seem to forget, like what happened to that little girl in FL at the hands of an illegal mexican. Its just a matter of time before people start to turn violent on illegals

Just one step ahead of the illegals,if they walk,we use a vehicle,if they use a car,we use a plane,if they use knives we use guns and if they use their armed military men like in certain occasions they been doing,we'll take their largest cities and wipe them off the map

hmmm

i m not a citizen

I wonder how much people willing to pay for food if the people that are paid such low wages to get it to market are sent back to their own country. I am always surprised to hear people say the immigrants are taking away jobs. I'm pretty sure that if someone wants to pick lettuce for poverty wages, the opportunity is there. It seems that too many people are looking to the wrong source for troubles in our country. Its not illegal immigrants that are the main source of problems, its an administration that is waging an illegal war at one billion dollars a week that needs to be looked at.

yepp,, close the border for g00d

Ive Heard The Sad Stories Of Those Who Died In The Desert

Trying To ILLEGALLY ENTER The USA

They Should NOT Have Put Themselves In That Position

I Have NO SYMPATHY

--It is likely that in mid-2005 more than 20 million Illegal Aliens resided in the United States, with roughly 12,000 additional illegal aliens entering every day.

I Agree With Deploying Troops To The Border

It Is Our Nations Border,

There Should Be NO UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY -

ZERO TOLERANCE -

Translation :

Authorization To Use Deadly Force

To Prevent ANY ILLEGAL ENTRY TO THIS NATION

News Travels Fast

After A Few BORDER JUMPERS Take A Headshot

The Word Will Get Back To All The Potential ILLEGAL Aliens

That The USA Will Not Tolerate ILLEGAL Entry

They Will STOP TRYING To Enter Illegally

I wish the American government to go to the borders and no further to stop this invasion.

Close the border. Use some of the insane paychecks that politicians get and keep giving themselves raises for to pay for erecting a 3ft thick 15ft tall wall with constentina wire along the top. Post national guard and army along the border. Turn the ten miles on either side of the wall into a free fire target practice zone for our air force pilots.

And if they don't get the idea after that, start our own invasion of Mexico. Hell, we should do that anyway. They're trying to invade America, why not? There's an idea. Take over Mexico, make it the 51st state, and force all of them to pay taxes, cut off their free bennies and make our corps pay them minimum wage. Everyone benefits then right?

I think shooting illegals that try to sneak over would send a powerful message

They should hire more border patrol and request that local police check "suspicious" people for green cards.

They should bill Mexico for all their citizens leeching off the American government.

Collect some SERIOUS back taxes. If illegals never paid them, I as a legal should not have had to.

I think we have a right to secure our borders, and I think the government has a duty to do it.

They are talking about sporadic, 90-95% effective, 'smart' fences (double fences with a road between, sensors and trenches to keep someone from crashing a car into it). These would be at high 'border traffic' areas and in urban areas where it is easy for an illegal immigrant to jump into a car and disappear.

Other areas would have sensors, increased border patrol, and would be patrolled by unmanned drone aircraft (as is already done in some areas.) I think the fences are necessary, because I think over time the border patrol and ongoing 'human' assets will be reduced to support pet Congressional projects, while the fences cost relatively little to maintain once built.

Given the statistics I have seen, the money taxpayers would save on supporting illegal immigrants would pay for this.

Mind you that would only be true if the support by taxpayers wasn't shifted to the guest worker program. I think employers under that program should provide at least basic health care and should pay an 'impact fee' to the localities where the guest worker will be located to offset the cost of education and other support services. Currently the tax payer picks up the bill for the 'benefits package' of the illegal immigrant which falsely minimizes the cost of illegal immigrant labor to the employer. I also think there needs to be a way to make sure the guest workers (not the current illegals, but the new ones to be brought in) actually leave when their time is up.

I don't think everyone will be stopped at the border. However, post 9/11, having 500,000 to a million people who we can't identify enter per year is a national security joke.

Mass deportation, and build a really high fence.

There has to be a Justice system to protect others (in history when ever no laws or justice system-lawlessness prevailed and many got hurt). So I would have to go with -as far as they must. We have people here who need Medical-we have starving people-homeless are growing more each year some have no heat or running water (yes right here in the US). Its not the Mexican people fault-but in helping them (Aid-schools-medical)which runs in billions (75 billion just in California-look on web)we are not doing right by those who were born here. That money could be used here to help those needing it here. Is giving to others first fair? When we handle our own than we can do more for others. And if we really want to be fair-let all the starving in first (after us)(Africa has some in very bad shape) I feel for the Mexican and I feel for those who need it here. I feel we need to take care of ours first. And If the Mexicans didn't have this escape(we make it easy with benefits) they would march on their own government-but this is easier. To be fair-our elderly-disable-homeless need our help too lets help them first.

They should grant a guest worker permit program, make it fairly strict, heavily fine employers that hire illegals, make the ability for employers to check employees legal status and overall easier, deveolop a guest worker program.

The problem is largely not the US's but Mexico's. Money sent back home to Mexico is the 5th largest part of their GDP. Additionally, Mexico does very little to attempt to prevent it's citizens from crossing the border.

BTW - the Cycotes are illegal in Mexico as well.

I belive we should close the border because we have enough illegals here to do the jobs they just all need to get off welfare and actually work!!!! They can survive off less then minumum because they typically live 12 to a house.

Also I think if we allow teenagers to work for less then minumum they would, just relax some of those restricions.

Build a wall, a great big "Wall of America" along the border.
