How does the societal view of government's role in the economy affect the economy?

What do we think about the role of the government and how they effect our economy?

Yes it does. Have you never heard of the entitlement mentality? Because the local, state and federal government offer aid in the form of social programs; this (the USA) have raised generations of people with their hands out. They have come accustomed to the government handling all their needs and wants. Food stamps, assisted day care, and medicaid are just a few of the programs offered and abused. These programs cost money to run and to run them raises the taxes of citizens who work hard and sometimes doubly hard to maintain a comfortable life style. Not elaborate, just comfortable. The US has the richest poor people on the face of the planet.
