How many illegals live off of the government ticket?

I've heard the argument many many many times that illegals enter illegally, have an anchor baby , and the draw welfare. Does anyone have any actual stats as to how many in the US draw welfare? I know many illegals and don't know of any that draw welfare. They are always too afraid to go to any government agency. That means police, hospitals (unless actually dying) and/or social services. I'm not asking for a debate here I am just interested in actual numbers or where to find them please.

And once again, no one has provided valid unbiased sources with a list of credible sources to back up their facts.

I would like to know their sources,( From creditable sources,) the Neo Con websites posted in this question are from bias sources, I was an employee of the Arizona Dept. of Economic Security, Granting services to the "Undocumented' they did not , period. They did not provide services for the Legal needy poor ,much less to the undocumented.

I agree with you. Many people have this misconception that illegals can live off of welfare and it is not true. Also many people think that illegals do not pay taxes when they do unless they are working under the table as do Americans. The difference is most illegals do not know about the ITIN and they do not get their money back on federal returns like Americans. What do the American people think keeps Social Security going, all that illegals that pay in and never collect THINK ABOUT IT

It depends whether the government services you're talking about are schools or other services. The main service the lawsuits are about is whether schools can ask about immigration status before enrolling children. I think statistics will be horribly unreliable about welfare, but I'm almost sure you're right about that. However, legal Hispanic immigrants are often low income, which means that they will get a lot of the "working poor" benefits like earned income tax credit and food stamps. I suspect that a lot of people see a Hispanic person using food stamps and jump to the conclusion that he's illegal and that all the illegals are on food stamps.

I also agree that one using welfare is too many, but I also think we need to take a pragmatic view that spending $1 billion to stop $10 million in fraud is throwing good money after the bad. If it's not widespread, there are a lot of other things we should be more worried about.

First off it would be very difficult to get accurate stats on it,since many government assistance offices are not allowed to ask about immigration status. So if someone has paperwork that will stand up to cursory examination then they will likely be approved. Thus the high rate of identity theft present in the illegal immigrant community. I of course constantly hear that illegals don't use government services,which makes me wonder something though. If Illegals don't use government services,why when a law is passed requiring verification of immigration status for government services,are there all the lawsuits fighting to have the law overturned?

i agree with you....i know a big number of illegals and not one of them i know uses welfare nor go to the hospital unless it is life threatening(hasnt happened yet).

One is too many. I live in Miami and a friends daughter needed food stamps and because she did not speak Spanish, when she went to the social services office, they not only gave her attitude but make it as hard as possible to be helped. The free lunch program in Miami schools has about 90% of the kids getting free lunches, and requires no documentation of status, you know many illegals are getting a free lunch. How about anchor babies, the hospitals bills are being paid on the backs of the tax payers.
