What government policies affect the world food supply?

Also if you can help, can you please tell me.

How have these policies affected the economy, society and enviroment in terms of food supply?

And to what extent have people been affected by these government policies?

Any help would be great thanks

P.S What other policy options are available?

This is by no means comprehensive. Ethanol is a good example of the government subsidizing a very bad idea with has caused a spike in corn prices which affest the consumer. Usually the government interferes indirectly by allowing subsities or enacting, tightening or easing tariff which will favor a certain foods production over another. The government could adopt a true free market system and let the market find it own equilibrium which would be best for everyone.

idk

maybe u can answer my question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArknBMnmwWqIUp_tAFJi2Mrsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080911161804AAuhgfY
