Why are individuals and government refusing to attend this years Olympics in Beijing?

I've heard its got something to do with the treatment of the people in China and the degrading conditions the communist government of China is imposing on its people. So what is the actual reason? There has also been mass protest against it and people trying to extinguish the olympic torch flame. What's going on?

What is going on is that various political groups are hijacking the Olympic events as a political platform to express their opinions since the coverage is free and those groups are too cheap to paid for their own advertisement.

They want to point the finger at China but other countries have problem too.

I think Tibet is part of China and they want greater autonomy over the territory. So, people in Tibet are protesting to get greater autonomy and are upsetting the government of China. They want to disturb the Olympic games. Well, I hope the USA don't try to invade China. As it always happens that way.
