Why do liberals and conservatives believe that government needs to intervene to fix problems it created?

The liberals advocate all kinds of domestic government interventions to fix problems that were actually created by previous government interventions (as sound economics proves). The conservatives advocate more government interventions abroad to fix the problems that the previous government interventions abroad have caused.

Why are both liberals and conservatives so blind that they cannot see that the problems they want to fix with more government were caused by previous government interventions. Why do liberals want the government to nationalize the health care industry to try to correct the problems that 60 years of government intervention in the health care industry have created? Why do conservatives want to invade half the Middle East to fix the problems that previous American wars have created? Why do the liberals and conservatives both see through the other side's favored interventions, but not their own? Why do they make the same arguments when their interventions fail (not enough money was thrown at it, the wrong people were in charge etc.)? Why did the conservatives flip-flop on WMDs in the exact same manner that the liberals flip-flopped on Monica Lewinsky (originally, the liberals claimed that Clinton never had sex with Lewinsky, but eventually they switched to claim that it was irrelevant; the conservatives did the same when the WMDs turned out to be imaginary)?

You are confusing Conservatives with Republicans. While it is true that both liberals and democrats subscribe to massive government intervention, only a few Republicans do and zero Conservatives do.

Here's a little example to help you- When the economy tanked, liberals and democrats asked what the government could do to fix it.

Conservatives and Republicans asked what the government did to CAUSE it.

Obviously, Conservatives and Republicans have it right.

Government didn't cause health care problems -- countries that have more government involvement don't have them.

Our war (there was only one) didn't cause the problems in the middle east, that's ridiculous. And the entire world went to war in Kuwait, not just us.

As to Lewinsky, it was Clinton who claimed that. When he lied, we accepted that he'd lied. That's called respect for reality, and it's something that conservatives could stand to learn.

Your question starts with a false premise. Only liberals or semi liberals believe that government intervention is necessary. A true conservative would not want the bail out.

I think you refer to the Democrats (Typically liberal) and the Republicans in power (in name only).

You have articulated the reason why I am a centrist. Welcome to common sense, no offense but YEAH! I'm tired of the pendulum swinging too far one way and then the next as well. I take exception with the byzantine and dysfunctional 'health' care- its' not about health at all but pure profit.

Well, government is supposed to solve problems. Isn't that what government is for? To help its people?

What do you want the government to do, sit around and watch?

I wish I knew ....

What I do know is when you hear the "Hi, I'm from the government and I am here to help .. run like hell ...

Conservatives do not subscribe to this philosophy.........and NO George Bush was never a conservative.

I will take on one of your questions, and I am not a Republican nor Democrat I am a socialist.

'Why do liberals want the government to nationalize the health care industry to try to correct the problems that 60 years of government intervention in the health care industry have created?"

Myth One: The United States has the best health care system in the world.

Fact One: The United States ranks 23rd in infant mortality, down from 12th in 1960 and 21st in 1990

Fact Two: The United States ranks 20th in life expectancy for women down from 1st in 1945 and 13th in 1960

Fact Three: The United States ranks 21st in life expectancy for men down from 1st in 1945 and 17th in 1960.

Fact Four: The United States ranks between 50th and 100th in immunizations depending on the immunization. Overall US is 67th, right behind Botswana

Fact Five: Outcome studies on a variety of diseases, such as coronary artery disease, and renal failure show the United States to rank below Canada and a wide variety of industrialized nations.

Conclusion: The United States ranks poorly relative to other industrialized nations in health care despite having the best trained health care providers and the best medical infrastructure of any industrialized nation
