Government?

is getting a speeding ticket a part of the federal, state, or local government?

It is part of the State Government

Edit:

To those that are stating local or it depends, the State

is responsible for the laws, the local police enforce

the state laws. Local Government can set the speed

limits but it covered under State statutes.

The District of Columbia (DC) is not a state it is a Federal

District, and is controlled by Congress

depends on where anywhere in DC its federal or at national parks and beaches. Most interstates are state and others are local.

Local if stopped by local police and state if stopped by a Statey. Never heard of federals giving speeding tickets.

I thought it was part of the state government.

depends, it could be a State infraction or a municipal/city infraction. It will say on your ticket. If you got it on a hwy then definatley state, but if it was handed out by a city cop it could be a civic infraction (like a parking ticket)

That depends on where you get the ticket.

If you get the ticket on a city street, then local government will cite you.

If it's on a state highway, the state government will cite you.

If your on federal property, such as a military base, federal police can cite you.
