How important is the stability of a government for democracy?

some democratic states don't have the luxury of stability. and that doesn't stop them from progress. but what is the link between democracy and a stable/unstable government?

True Democracy is DEPENDENT on instability to occassionally "correct" itself

not very

It is very important and entirely relavant.

Reading the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich will show how one group of facists took advantage of unstability and used it to create a facist government. It is scarey that one reading that can see many of the same actions having occurred in this country by its current administration which is actually working toward global corporate government as shown in the long-standing goals of the tri-lateral commission. One can see the firing of persons inthe justice department that were "politically unpredictable" Or hear the words of Goerring before he and associate burned down the Reichstag "we must do something sensational to stampede the public." Playboy showed Cheney voicing nearly the same words in support of the Patriots (ya sure) Bill prior to 9/11/ Stability includes , most importantly, according to George Washington in his Farewell Address, protection of the Spirit of Freedom. Read that section of his address and he mentions how forces will likely, from time to time, take over power of this democracy and how they will do it will be to make continuous attacks on the spirit of freedom (gas prices ain't only about money) To be stable is to be trusted and having the citizens see justice and responsiveness to their concerns. We have not seen that in a long time. We can , according to Washington change the form of the democracy if and when it threathens person freedom. In fact it is the primary responsibility they gave to future generations. For a more current viewpoint Read Barry Goldwater's biography With No Apologies paying head tothe chapter on The Non-Elected Rulers...Ron Paul is speaking out on this topic, at last someone is. Creation of a huge national debt can be a ploy toward de stabilizaition where the creators of the debt come in to save the day after they have created the problem.. Create the need.....Instability is emphasized in control of the justice departments and this has been accentuated by the creation of Homeland (Fatherland) Security which is empowered to overpower every other dept of justice. not good........communication with elected officials has been delayed when our correspondence to them is held up 3 weeks after the letters are received at the capital. Hense we lose the power of the hand written letter on current affairs. Stability is related to sovereignty which has been being garage saled off all over the place . When your President and Vice President have both demonstrated failure to live up to the contractual responsibilies of Article Two of the Constitution and not be removed from office for the fouling of the oaths or the other requirement of Article Two (not be be confused with 2nd amendment) then the democracy is not a democracy. It is many things but it is not functioning as a democracy . Look at presidential candidates and research which ones are for sovereignty and which are voting or acting with those wanting one rule world; they will deminish democracy. Enough for a start. I must emphasize I am not Cassie but have borrowed her access for this question.

We the people are responsible for all that if there is actual democracy. But we all are not correct to choose the correct representatives.

Economics.

without a free economy there is no democracy and even then its still not a "true" democracy because a democracy is defined as follows word for word : Democracy (literally "rule by the people", from the Greek demos, "people", and kratos, "rule") is a form of government. Interesting rule by the people. hmm - give that some thought - do we rule our government? really now. oh and as for Communism being a failure - it didn't fail, it just evolved.. watch the coming years. Putin was head of the KGB..lol what a farce!!!
