How funny Our government finally got the balls to say we are in a recession! Hmmm ?

I personally believe the government would have been better off by telling us this over a year ago! Because if they did we could have possibly prevented what going on now! Do you think the government not taking care of business is liable and should be held accountable in the court of law?

Ok so in your economic mind- It is December 2007 and Bush makes an announcement 'We are in a recession'.

What changes do you make to prevent this?

No one needs to be held under anything in a court of law

I dunno; the signs were there, and the financial guys were pretty worried. You can't trust the government to do anything. And how would we prevent the recession? I think we would have panicked, and started the downturn much faster by 1) slowing spending, 2) investing in durable goods instead of cheap junk and 3) well, acting like idiots and selling off our stocks before they "crashed."

If the gov't announced it a year earlier, I think maybe we'd just be a year further into some bad crap. However, it wouldn't have had a year to get worse, so in that way, the "recession" would be milder.

However, truth be told, I think we're in a full-fledged depression, which Wiki says is a recession which affects more than one economy.

"In economics, a depression is a sustained, long downturn in one or more economies. It is more severe than a recession, which is seen as a normal downturn in the business cycle.

"Considered a rare but extreme form of recession, a depression is characterized by abnormal increases in unemployment, restriction of credit, shrinking output and investment, numerous bankruptcies, reduced amounts of trade and commerce, as well as highly volatile relative currency value fluctuations, mostly devaluations. Price deflation or hyperinflation are also common elements of a depression."

So there you go. Make plans accordingly. But I don't know what you're going to do . . . maybe buy some chickens, and sell their eggs? Make sure they are free-range!

You got my 10 points

?

They the leaders of the country are so afraid to say that there is a recession that it might scare the people

?

Into thinking there might be a problem In the country

?

Smart thinking ain't they

?

And taking care of business is a song not something that the government knows how to do

?

And to take them to court would make

Judge Judy the most watched show on TV for months

?

Listening to all the excuses they have and telling the one guy or gal to shut up till you are ask a question

?

The numbers are reported every month, We are now officially by definition in a recession. To announce it before the numbers are announced is like answering a question before it is asked.

Some people in our government saw this coming as long as 3 years ago, but the actions they proposed were blocked, And not by the Bush administration.

Would it of made any difference in your personal life? My life has actually gotten better. My taxes were lowered on my home. My wages are up at work. If this is a recession, I only hear it from the media. The stores are full, the restaurants are full, gas prices are low, life is good.

I remember conservatives telling me back in 2005 that I was just being negative, like I am suppose to just go back to bed and forget about it. Not me, I am now debt free, bring it on. Video from 2005

The same idiots who beleived we were not in a recession then are telling you to take an economics course. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

The Government does not make that decision. It is done by an independent economic council.

We were in a recession since 2001. Since last year it just got worse.

Really? Is this a serious post?

Take an economics course...and a poly sci course...please

yes
