How much longer will our government allow American corporations to outsource American jobs oversea?

We all know the underlining cause of this economic depression is job outsourcing. It is not because of the war in Iraq & Afghanistan. It is not because of the mortgage crisis. How can our government continue to give tax break to American companies that ship the livelihood of Americans offshore.

You have bad information. The cause of the current economic recession was the mortgage crisis! The cause of the mortgage crisis was government over and/or mis-management which was written and protected by Democrats for decades. Do some research on the community investment act enacted by Carter and later made stronger by Clinton. The community inverstment act made banks give home loans to people who could not pay them back and who otherwise could not get a loan.

The government is not giving tax breaks to corporations we have the second highest corporate taxes in the world. Ireland recently lowered their corporate taxes and they have companies and jobs coming to their country in droves, at a time when the rest of the world is in a recession theirs is booming.

If the government really wanted to impove the economy they could do it tomorrow by:

Lowering the corporate taxes. This would bring companies and jobs to the US.

Make Bush tax cuts permanent.

No more bailouts or stimulus packages. They don't work and are a waste of money.

Enact middle class tax cuts. This would cause spending and investing.

Do away with capital gains tax for two years. After two years set it for 15%. This would encourage investing.

This could all be done tomorrow and without spending one cent!

Tax break? It's the taxes and fees that pushed the corporations out of the U.S.

Add to that excessive litigation

Add to that a demanding work force

Add to that a people that hates corporations

Add to that the hypocrisy that often accompanies any hate speech about corporations. Oh you hate WalMart? That's a nice pair of shoes and I like your shirt...where did you get them? Whoops.

People want to save money -- that's why corporations succeed -- that's why outsourcing works.

You want to punish them? They'll pick up shop and move the entire operation. There goes our tax revenue! Whoops. So much for UHC, eh? So much for those new highways, eh? So much for that bridge to cut your commute in half, eh?

Gotta think it through -- corporations don't go over seas b/c they hate the U.S.

Causation: Cause -- Effect.

Well, ah like ta tell ya, pilgrim....while i agree with you emotionally, intellectually i have to say it is inevitable. If you really are concerned about the topic (and by your question, it sounds like you are) i'd say reading thomas friedman's The World is Flat. He talks alot about job outsourcing and what it means to the american worker. All that said, since outsourcing is not illegal, there is not much any president can do, george bush the younger a perfect example. No matter, friedman's book will help you understand what you can do to protect yourself in the years ahead. And i know he has another book out recently, but i haven't read it yet.

Well, the government can't force a corporation to remain here if they don't want to. Government shouldn't meddle in legitimate business owner's affairs. That would put us one step closer to socialism.

If we want to prevent things such as outsourcing, we should focus on giving corporations incentives to stay. The American government isn't the one giving the tax breaks, the countries the businesses move to are the ones who offer lower taxes.

As long as Big Business runs The United States. Too many lobbyists, and earmarks. The big bailout failed in the senate, until lots of personal perks were added. Even Pelosi got a cut for her families tuna fish business.SWEET! Too many crooks in D.C.. These companies pad the wallets, and campaign funds of our elected officials, for crazy crap like tax breaks to send our jobs overseas! Does the free trade agreement sound familiar? Hopefully sooner rather then later they'll realize that the US also need to EXPORT products in order to survive!

I believe if we want American corporations to stay here and not outsource jobs overseas, then our government needs to give them a reason to stay here. The USA has the second highest corporate tax rate in the world, even higher than Russia. American consumers demand cheap products, but American labor demands high wages and benefits. It don't work both ways, so something is going to have to give.

You have no grasp on how the economy works. If some corporations kept their jobs in the U.S. and pay high labor wages...guess what, everything you purchase will go up in price. Companies are going to make their money.

Do not tell me if someone losses their job to over seas competitors that was the one single job that one person can do.

U.S. Companies ship about 2 million jobs over seas, you know we have a work force of 150 million right?

Also The U.S. allows foreign companies to set up shop here in the U.S. thus creating job opportunities.

Our econ 'crisis' has NOTHING to do w/ out sourcing. Get a clue.

What tax break are you referring to?

If a U.S. company fires American workers and rehires different workers overseas to do the same job, the company will pay exactly the same taxes as a company that keeps its workers in the U.S.

If a U.S. company forms a foreign subsidiary and has the foreign subsidiary hire the foreign workers, it will pay the same taxes on its US source income, and it will also likely have a deemed dividend with respect to income earned from foreign sources.

Finally, if the US company moves out of the US altogether, but still earns income from sources in the US, it will STILL pay the same amount of US tax on its US source income.

I don't know if I would agree it's the underlying cause, but I do agree that it's a serious problem and I think companies that ship American jobs overseas should be punished, not rewarded.

Until they are living in shacks for pennies and then the corporations will move back to America until they get rich again and then switch to another country, hopping around the world until the end of time.

Rich-class corporate freedom to rob and exploit poor, uneducated foreign populations of their resources shall not be impinged - whither funded by depleting the American worker pension.

The American taxpayer should outsource our government jobs, we could save big money. If we could achieve that, maybe then someone will wake up. Now with that said, lets go out and enjoy our "service job".

Affirmative action protects women as well as minorities.

Go read a book sometime.

Because if the taxes were raised on those businesses, what is keeping them from relocating totally out of the country?
