Is the biggest enemy to democracy the government and the police rather than terrorist?

The government uses any excuse to strip away our civil liberties. Why should Americans be punished with more laws because of 9/11? I feel that the government uses fear of terrorism and the excuse to combat terrorism to gain more control over its subjects. Is the real enemy to democracy the government. And I am not just saying our government (US), but every government.

What? That doesn't make any sense.

Tell me what rights or civil liberties you have been stripped of.

Tell me just 1.

Phone taps? Is that what this is all about?

My lord. If that's what it takes to keep a rag head from blowing up another building what's the problem?

You are crying over nothing. Nothing. You make me sick and you make me want to puke.

Freedom is constantly in a state of deterioration.

You are correct, but you neglect to mention that government always wants to expand in the name of our well being, our civil order and our children.

Every new government program, every dollar spent by government rather than the people limits our choice and consequently our freedom.

Of course there are legitimate roles for government. These are outlined and limited in our constitution. The older that document gets the more inroads are devised to weaken it and allow government more free reign over our lives.

So it is incumbent upon each of us to know what government should do and what they should not. It is our duty as citizens to then research candidates for elected office and scrutinize them against this knowledge.

In the end we get the grade we deserved. Do your homework and no one will get hurt...

Are you serious??? How can you rationally ask such a question? The stricter security procedures are to keep us safe. If you don't recognize that, and think that the government is just out to get you.............WOW!

finally someone who has their head on straight. you are very correct. Not that terrorist are not an enemy, but yes, governments are gaining alot more power. The US government doesn't really even follow the constitution any more. We need a revolution.

You're correct; the same things happened in Germany during the 1930's, and happens with all governments. It's become very noticeable in the U.S. in the past several years, and more people are becoming aware of it.

Only your own government can infringe on your rights and liberties. In order for someone else to do so, they must first become your government.

LOL, no

I really think you need to do your homework, if you do this rediculous blather of a question would answer itself.
