What is is called when a government runs the engines of the economy?

For instance, Treasury is now running the financial services sector. Has the nature of our government fundamentally changed?

It is often referred to as Socialism or sometimes Centrally Planned Systems.

you'll have to be more specific about how you define 'running the engines'.

Right now, the government owns some of the private sector. I don't like it at all, and neither do most Americans.

Unfortunatly, the borrow and spend philosophy, along with deregulation, has led to this bloody mess and I'm afraid the nation had no option but to do what it did.

Hopefull, they will divest themselves of this ownership and pay the US taxpayers back with interest, big time interest.

That is why it is important to be informed and stay involved in government. If the government uses this bail out as an excuse to get control of the nation's purse strings, voter apathay is to blame.

I have never seen any government after Indiraji's death.Dont we see the FINANCE MINISTER is assuring the nation'no problem' and the Prime Minister just the contrary?I don't know what it's called :nor do they
