What measures has the current US government taken to deal with the financial crisis?

I'm writing an essay about Noam Chomsky's prediction in 2003 that the financial downturn may not be met with any long term strategies to fix the problem, but I'd like to be able to debate the point fairly.

The question again; what measures has the current US government taken to deal with the financial crisis?

.

Put the money into the problem, seems like government only and always solution.
