Why are government officials in the Philippines so privileged?

1. I don't understand but how does it happen that the government officials in the Philippines are so privileged?

2. Do they earn more than enough to give them comfortable lives?

3. Isn't it just like elected officials, because mass people are paying for their salary through taxes, they are supposed to serve the public and not the other way around?

Are they privileged? Bribery is known to be commonplace and if they could control that, they would well on their way to being a great country.

The politicians in the US are not serving the people - they are in it for themselves.

Being a politician in Philippines means money... Almost all the gov't officials so corrupt that newly elected officials are influenced too.

Suppose as working in the gov't you are a public servant..but it's not like that...

Higher position means power. That is why if you know someone in the office it is easy to process everything. Processing public documents is very difficult.. But if you know someone it takes a short time...

Well, so i think you can call it privileged
