How do low income families get government assistance to get back on their feet?

I have 3 children and am a single mother. I have gotten behind and need help. Which government agencies should I turn to

Go to the Department of Child Services and Also try going to the Deparment of health and they should direct you and also Housing Association. If you look in your yellow pages book they have all the government offices and their duties and also there is WIC. The child services probably will give you wic checks if they feel you qualify. and the health deparment will give you medicare and food stamps and you can ask any of them about government housing and they'll direct you. usually if you are a single mom you qualify already unless you make like 150 grand a year. even if you get child support you still can get low income housing and food stamps. I hope i was of help.

The first thing you need to do is get your children in school or daycare the ones that are open after hours ...get on welfare through your state they have self help classes. then get a second job let your counselor know so that you won't owe the money you make back to your state, use that money to save in small bits of 50 dollars or what you can afford...sit down and write out the money you spend everyday so you can see the things you buy that you or your children don't need...which will help you save better and even save more, you have to be dedicated to getting over the hump. once you have done that for a while get off welfare....find a job with benefits and get life and health insurance(whole life) for you and your children that way you can build up cash value and if things get bad for you again you can barrow from it without needing or wanting welfare...

hey i am a single mom too with 2 kids and government agencies are not the way to go unless you don't work i tried to get food stamps but i make 68 dollars more a month (gross ) than allowed they don't consider any expencies or bills in this assesment when i was having a really hard time i looked in the phone book under social services and found some great private services through local churches and community originations that helped me to get my roots firmly back in the ground i hope this helps and good luck
