How do you feel about government sponsored birth control ?

I feel if you can't afford birth control, which isn't 100%. You can't afford a child and the government should only encourage you to abstain from sex, untill you are able to handle the resonsibilites that come with having sex.

The government can encourage you to abstain from sex all they want, it is up to you to comply. They cannot mandate how and when you have sex, and with whom. They can't enforce personal responsibility either. Freedom has its disadvantages.

Giving out birth control encourages sex, really. It's not that expensive so you're basically encouraging minors and the poor to have sex. That doesn't seem wise for some reason. Maybe it's because, like you said, they can't even afford birth control so how would they afford kids?

Unfortunately most young people don't want to hear the words responsibility and sex combined within a sentence. They think it's their right to be as irresponsible with sex as they please.

Well lets see... Sponsor birth control which is what, maybe100 dollars a year per woman... or let the government pay for the woman to have the baby... which is what.. for hospital bill, checkups... WIC, food stamps for 18 years.... UMM yeah... I think they should give give out birth control. It will actually save money. Billions of dollars to take care of the child after it is born, rather than Hundreds to keep them from being born to those who can't afford them. I'm all for it. H3ll,, even the middle class can't afford children these days, so this doesn't just apply to the lower class... its better for all.

Government sponsored sterilization is a much better idea!!!

Not a bad idea, as long as it's optional.

So, now you are telling us what to do with our bodies??

Great, so every conservative can now tell everyone else what to do with their bodies.

If it keep babies from being dumped in a trash can, & illegit babies all over the place, I am all for it. Less strain on the economy, less strain on familes of kids that because both parent HAVE to work, they have little to do at home, & once the hormones start coming guess what they will do!?

Why don't conservative keep OUT of everyone elses business? Tend your own garden, so to speak. More people will be a lot happier for it.

I'd much rather my tax money be spent on giving people free birth control (adults that is, because minors are a whole other issue and then you risk infringing on parental rights) than being spent on providing for a child for 18 years. Birth control is much more effective than encouraging people not to have sex.

They need to start pumping the crap in tap water.

What is it? Like 75% of families about to have a kid are not even close to being able to "properly" raise it?

If I am not forced to take birth control by the government, but they make it available to me, then I might be in favor of that program. If the government has balanced the cost of offering this program against the government's cost of providing services to the children who would be born without the program, I would support it if it keeps costs down.
